【摘要】:TheprimaryadvantageofRUSisitsabilityofmakingnumerousmeasurementsinasingletest.Inaddition,itcanexamineroughgroundparts.Itrequireslittlesamplepreparation,nocouplants,andgenerallywillworkwithsoileditems;however,ithasnocapabilitywithsoftmaterials.Softmetals,polymers,rubbers,andwoodpartsarenotviablecandidatesforthistechnology.1.1Thisguidedescribesaprocedurefordetectingdefectsinmetallicandnon-metallicpartsusingtheresonantultrasoundspectroscopymethod.Theprocedureisintendedforusewithinstrumentscapableofexcitingandrecordingwholebodyresonantstateswithinpartswhichexhibitacousticalorultrasonicringing.Itisusedtodistinguishacceptablepartsfromthosecontainingdefects,suchascracks,voids,chips,densitydefects,temperingchanges,anddimensionalvariationsthatarecloselycorrelatedwiththeparts''mechanicalsystemdynamicresponse.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
